The Jeep Renegade is a subcompact SUV that packs a big punch when it comes to off-road capabilities. This small SUV provides a nice ride on the road but shines when you take it over rough terrain. For the 2023 model year, the Sport trim is no longer available, making the Latitude the entry-level model. Also, for 2023, the Limited gains some new standard safety equipment, and there are new optional appearance packages.
The entry-level Renegade is now the Latitude. It comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, halogen headlights, and all-season tires. It also has roof rails, fog lights, and keyless entry. The Altitude has roof rails, 18-inch wheels, and gloss black exterior accents. Stepping up to the Limited gets you 18-inch wheels and the option for LED headlights.
The Trailhawk is the most off-road-capable model. It comes with 17-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, a raised suspension, front and rear tow hooks, skid plates, and a full-size spare tire. A Class III tow hitch receiver is optional for the Trailhawk. If you choose the Red Special Edition model, you'll get 19-inch diamond-cut granite crystal wheels, red mirror caps, and red badging.
Power for the Renegade comes from a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 177 horsepower and generates 210 pound-feet of torque. It works with Jeep's nine-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive comes standard with all trims except the four-wheel-drive Trailhawk.
The four-cylinder engine has plenty of power for the small Renegade. It accelerates quickly from a stop and provides a comfortable ride. The Trailhawk has extra drive modes to help you handle rocks, mud, and dirt, and it has a simulated low range that makes it easier to travel rough terrain at low speeds. When equipped with the tow hitch, the Renegade can tow up to 2,000 pounds.
There's room for up to five in the Renegade, and its boxy design provides plenty of headroom. It comes standard with dual-zone automatic climate control, a 60/40 split rear seat, cloth upholstery, and a removable cargo floor panel. The Limited comes with a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver's seat. Leather upholstery is available for the Trailhawk, and the Red adds red accents to the cabin.
Technology in the Renegade starts with an 8.4-inch touch screen, HD radio, a USB port, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Bluetooth. The Convenience Package adds a 115-volt power outlet, and the Sun and Sound Package comes with a nine-speaker Kenwood stereo system. The Limited also offers the Sun and Sound Package.
Every 2023 Renegade comes standard with several advanced driver aids. These include a forward collision warning system with automatic braking, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning with mitigation, and a trailer sway control feature. The Limited offers the Luxury Group Package with adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, rear automatic braking, and an automated parking system. Automatic high-beam headlights are also available for the Limited.
